The Flying Nun

FNun19v.jpg

Sister Anne Maree Jensen’s Aerial Ministry Outback Parish covers a territory of 280, 000 square kilometres with a population of approx 1 500. The United Kingdom is slightly larger with a population of 57 million. Such is the extent of isolation and hardship of people living in this desolate land her companionship is crucial. Travelling with her over this remote land was a privilege.

You could feel the oppression of Brewarrina and the peoples living there. An unrelentless devastation.

Social changes are desperately needed in Australia and the Indigenous peoples deserve more freedom. To this day I can still recall the emotions I experienced being in this place..a place where your every move is observed and challenged.
